Intra-State E-Way Bills made mandatory for SIX more States

E-way bills are touted as an anti-evasion measure, which would
help boost tax collections by clamping down on a trade that currently
happens on the cash basis. The e way bill provision of the goods and
services tax (GST) was first introduced and GST Council decides to
mandate, e-Way Bill system for all inter-State movement of goods has
been rolled out from 1st April 2018.
As on 15th April 2018, e Way Bill system for intra-State movement of
products has been rolled out in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat,
Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. E Way Bills are getting
generated successfully, and till 17th April 2018 more than 1.33 lakh
e-Way Bills have been successfully produced which includes more than 6
lakh e Way Bills have been created for intra-State movement of goods
from 15th to 17th of April 2018. However, its implementation was put on
hold after the system developed glitches in generating permits. With
several states also starting to generate intra-state e-way bills on the
portal, the system developed a snag.
Now six more states to roll out intra-State e-way bills. It has been
informed that e-Way Bill system for intra-State movement of goods would
be implemented from 20th April 2018 in the following States:-
- Bihar
- Jharkhand
- Haryana
- Himachal Pradesh
- Tripura
- Uttarakhand
With the roll-out of e-Way Bill system in these States, it is
expected that trade and industry will be further facilitated in so far
as the transport of goods is concerned, thereby eventually paving the
way for a nation-wide single e Way Bill system.
The platform has was made more robust so that it can handle the load
of as many as 75 lakh inter-state e-way bills daily without any glitch.
Trade and commerce and transporters located in these States may obtain
registration/enrolment on e Way Bill portal namely https://www.ewaybillgst.gov.in at the earliest without waiting for the last date.
